Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Glad you feel a connection and well done on day 2!
Welcome! I post whenever I feel the urge...I'm extremely anxious regardless of being in withdrawal...get bored easy..so I type whenever I want and no one has ever complained.
I was told by an old timer here...to post whenever I wanted and whatever I was feeling. Day 2...glad your feeling well...and excited. I know it only gets better.

It took me a while for my craving to completely go away. It was gradual, but got easier after the first difficult days and weeks.
I kept busy during the late afternoons and early evenings when I most craved a drink. I would go for hikes (we have trails near where I live) or head to a book store and skim through books on recovery. Some days I would just listen to music and dance around the house.
Glad you are feeling good about quitting. You should! It is a tremendous accomplishment and is such a better way to live!
love to you all.
During those times I found that getting inside of the feeling and then breathing through it helped. I also sometimes timed my cravings -- looked at a clock and noted how long it was bad. This helped shorten them and drove home the point to me that they would pass.
It gets better! You might have a bad day here and there, but every day should get easier and easier.
