I don't sponsor online but I am happy to communicate with you if you would like that? Have you thought of calling your local AA helpline? I am in the UK so I'm not sure what happens re helplines in other countries but here we go and see people at home if they want that or give them a lift to a meeting etc.

most offices that are central clearing offices for local cities will have a telephone number to call to find a meeting and many of them will find a way to get someone without transportation to get to a meeting....try that and go with the females for sponsorship....talk to them before and after the meeting and listen during the meeting for one who speaks about the way that AA programs 12 steps have worked for her and if she seems solid ask her to sponsor you at that meeting....

I have found it very difficult to sponsor online and so rather than do a bad job, I don't do it at all. However, I am always prepared to help if I can - I have been sober for quite a while and have sponsored many women on a face to face basis. PM me if I can help at all! My name is Lyn by the way.

#4. You do not need to make sarcastic comments about AA in order to tell Kemann you stopped drinking by yourself. People in AA would love to be able to sponsor but trying to do it online does not work well in my experience even though I have tried to on many occasions. However we have offered support in any way we can - still you would not offer support because of course you did it all by yourself so people don't need support do they??

@#6: Why is it OK for people in AA to say they stopped drinking with the help of AA but its not OK for Impermanence to say he quit by himself? Can you say H-Y-P-O-C-R-A-C-Y?

Sparky - there is nothing wrong with someone stating that they stopped drinking on their own. We have lots of that around here :) I think that what Serenity is referring to is the first sentence of the post being referenced. Unfortunately, there are times that someone will discuss the way they got sober at the expense of taking a dig at another recovery method. It's sort of me telling you how much I like the colour blue by also including how much I loathe red. I can still tell you I love blue without putting down those who like red.

Big rainbow of colours around here. I think we just have to shine on the one we like and accept the other hues of the rainbow too. :)

I would love to help you, kemann. I have sponsored a few men online and it's worked out for me, with Skype, etc. One of those guys has started his amends and it's been a pleasure to see him grow in the program. The only thing is that I don't really sponsor women...but I am certainly glad to communicate with you as well, if it will help. You are more than welcome to PM me!
