Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
You may try getting involved in after work activities such as volunteering or joining a gym.
Maybe staying busy will help curb the cravings.
"Please take this craving away, do with it what you wish, just please, take it from me"
This is the longest I have been sober in 5 years..and never happier..
Best wishes..Les
Librium what I think your talking about is you to help in the withdrawal period and lessens the possibilty of seizure and death. You probably wont find a regular doc to do this. Go to a rehab. psych hospital or psychiatrist that specializes in addiction.
Ummm i hate to tell you this but there aint no difference.
We admitted we were powerless over alcoholthat our lives had become unmanageable.
I don't much like the meetings I'm going to at the moment myself - I'm the only woman. In my mind any meeting is better than no group at all, have you tried a different group, somewhere you may feel you fit in better?
I am starting my recovery very slowly because I do want to be able to drink normally in the future. Whether you can do this is based on whether your addiction is physical or psychological. You should read up on this (I'm reading Beat the Booze and it's fantastic).
To stop I am doing very simple things. I don't stop at the shop on the way home if I have a craving. I avoid drinking venues, I try not to be anywhere where alcohol is present. It's difficult in the UK but its not impossible!
You need to think for yourself how important quitting is. It doesn't matter whether you're a heavy drinker or an alcoholic at this point, its all based on stopping surely, but slowly.
Good luck!
That would get me to Bob's store on stop 11, where i would pick me up a 6 pack of tall boys,(igotta free beer outta that deal).. That would get me primed to go out with my best friend to the bars, and that usually led to insanity.
Long story short,, you first have to accept there is a problem, admit it will continue to whoop your ass, and then be open-minded for solutions..
Myself I believe the medication for cravins, is just a crutch to try to find an easier softer way, to get sober. I cannot call one time that any medications have solved alcoholism.
Through the grace of the people of AA, that were HP powered, I am sober today.
