I haven't been counting each day. I had to look at my profile to see. I'm doing well with not drinking. I still have my daughter with me. Her mother seems to have vanished. Not the first time and I'm perfectly fine with keeping her longer.
I know no one trusts me anymore. I don't blame them. My mom is always asking if I've been drinking, smelling my breath, calling my girlfriend to make sure I'm with her, and attempting to keep me on a short leash. I'm a grown man even if I haven't been acting like it recently. Girlfriend doesn't ask. I don't think she trusts me, either, but she isn't trying to control me. We had a long talk the other day. She told me she was wrong for threatening to leave me if I kept drinking and she wasn't going to tell me what to do. She said she's happy right now, but if I choose to keep drinking, we will eventually part ways.
She doesn't have to ask me, though. She's always been able to tell if I've even had a few drinks. I don't know how she does it. I can cover up the smell with mouthwash, act completely normal, and not even feel buzzed. She still knows if I've had a drink. She says something about my voice being a little different and little things I do or say. She said she used to believe her ex's lies because she wanted to believe them, even though she knew he was lying. She said she's not doing that anymore. Good for her.
Still, I wish I could regain the trust. She isn't acting differently toward me, but I can feel it and see it in her eyes. She still feels betrayed. I guess it will just take time. I screwed up. I have to deal with the consequences now. And if I want to be trusted again, I'm going to have to prove that I deserve to be.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Congrats on 22 days - that's really fantastic:)
WTF? Seriously? Her mother just "vanishes" with no word as to where she is going or when she will be back??? That's brutal. I'd be going for full custody if I were you. Your little girl needs consistency in her life.
You lose trust in buckets and get it back in teardrops.Keep doing the next right thing.Living amends is the best thing you can do to get that trust back.
But try not to walk around feeling guilty all the time either; you can't change what you did 22 days ago, but if you have been consistently making positive changes, then you can hold your head high.
Alcoholism carries a stigma with other people. Walking around in shame can keep you from moving forward to better things. You have your whole life ahead of you. Be excited!
God Bless
And, yes, my girlfriend's ex was on meth and he was very abusive. I could tell there was something wrong from her facebook posts and then I was suddenly deleted from her friends list. She told me he was threatened by our friendship and kept trying to force her to send me a nasty, hurtful message. He knocked her around and she deleted me to appease him but she refused to send the message, which got her knocked around even more. She was alone in another state with no friends or family or anyone to help her. She finally got away when he lacerated her spleen and kidney. She spent a few days in the ICU and had to have a major blood transfusion. Then she went to a DV shelter until her mom got her tax refund and was able to buy her a plane ticket home.
He got 3 months in jail. For nearly killing her. Gotta love the legal system. I rarely get angry, but when I think about what he did to her, I get so mad I can't see straight. She still has nightmares - she'll talk in her sleep and I'll wake her up from them. Or she'll shoot straight up in bed screaming.
Her ex really had no reason to be threatened. She's the most loyal person I've ever met. She wouldn't have cheated on him, regardless of how she felt about him. She said, "It's not because I had any respect for him. I just had too much respect for myself. I'm not gonna be a little tramp and sleep around. If I'm with you, I'm with you." Still, there's no reason to beat on someone like that.
