Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I'm 49, divorced, but back with ex. We live with my parents & my two adult sons. Well, last October my 43 year old brother moved back home. He's an alcoholic. He drinks like a fish. He just drinks one beer after another. Doesn't even take a break in between. However, he doesn't get that drunk. It's like drinkin water to him.
The big problem is the hard liquor. He drinks Southern Comfort every now & then. That's when he stumbles, falls & doesn't remember anything the next day. He, for the most part gets along with the family. When he gets drunk on So-Co he talks bad about everyone & starts fights with everyone. Verbal, not physical. Stresses me out. I don't like talkin to him when he's drinkin. I should just walk away from him, but he gets all pissy with me. I told him I call his liquor mean juice! When he moved back, he was suppose to get help to stop drinkin, but he's drinkin even more now! He looked for rehabs & said he couldn't find any. He's afraid to stop on his own, cuz of the detox's. He wants treatment when he quits. I don't think he wants to quit, or he'd be tryin harder. He's lookin for a 90 day program. There's none around us, but I'm sure my parents would drive however far it was to get him treatment. Not another state, but like a day trip wouldn't be bad. I just wanna make some friends that live with a family member who drinks. Doesn't even have to be family, could be anyone you live with.
That's all for now. Take care everyone!

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I acted the same way to my wife so she called the cops and kicked me out. That was the best thing she ever did to help me!
The cop said, "I'll give you a choice!, Jail or detox".....Believe me, even though I was drunk at the time, it was an easy decision.
The cop took me to the emergency room and I was placed in detox for 4 days. I was kept comfortable with alternate meds and later refered to an outpatient program called "The Serenity Program" which is and IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) That was a 3 week course and on one of the days, your family is allowed to come in and tell you (in a supportive environment) every annoying thing you do while you are drunk! It's an eye opener for all concerned!
That was 6 years ago. Now I go to occasional AA meetings, I live my life by the 12 steps, and I have never been happier!
Good Luck!
Sorry you are going through so much stress and pain. I don't live with family members who drink now, but I did at one time. It was my brother. He drank exactly like you are describing that your brother drinks. I have drank like that myself.
I know how difficult it is to walk away, but sometimes that's the only way. I also know how fear of detoxing keeps us from getting help.
I don't really know, but I would think there is some type of help he could get not too far away. Could you call your local social services department? Do you have a rescue mission with a program for people with addictions somewhere? Of course, he has to want to do it himself. You can't do it for him. You could maybe help him get there and make arrangements, but in the end, he's the only one who can fix his problem.
Sometimes moving back in with parents accelerates drinking. Maybe that is why he is drinking more now. Possibly he needs to be removed from the situation to get on track. Something to think about. Alcohol is cunning, baffling, and powerful. Hope and pray everything works out.
