Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

First I read Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Drinking and decided that I was done for good. In the early days I still took one day at a time but as that turned into weeks then months I felt like I did not want to waste that time by starting again.
I also made a promise to myself and husband that if I have even one drink I will go to AA the next day.....and I just don't want to do that. I haven't ruled AA out as a support group btw but the thought of showing up because of a relapse does not appeal to me:)
Something else I've tried recently is imagining a hangover.....I think most of us struggling with sobriety imagine just that first drink and how relaxing that would be. If I have "what if" thoughts I just imagine/remember what a really bad hangover feels like.
Whatever works:)
All the best
Thanks for checking in and congrats on 18 months! Nice to see you
