I thought I'd post this in response to the GOD post that has received over 40 responses in the last few days. This is an alcoholism site, not AA and I therefore respect what anyone has to say about recovery from alcoholism. What I have been taught in AA in addition to turning my life and my will over to the care of God as I understand him, is patience and tolerance. I don't always like what ppl have to say, but I just don't respond to their posts, or I will state my disagreement with the grace and dignity that AA has taught me.

The GOD post sort of reminds me of what my minister shared in her Sermon after the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01. She stated that most Muslims do not want to be represented by the terrorists any more than we as Christians want to be represented by the Ku Klux Klan. I feel for the person who posted that, that intense dislike of others is something I don't envy. Nevertheless, I will pray for that person as I have been taught to do and hope that he might just find a more appropriate venue to carry the Christian message as he seems to understand it.

Somehow I got a different take on what Dan was saying. I can't remember him saying he didn't like anyone. He was doing what most Christian sects require of their congregations; he was proselytizing. Maybe you and I ought to take another look at what he wrote, one of us must be wrong. I got the idea he was trying to help God's children. Did you take offense at that? Trying to persuade people to believe what we "know as truth" is not necessarily disliking them. I get bored with it sometimes, but I don't take offense.

If one were to read Jesus' Sermon on the Mount and the 12 steps of AA one could almost point our where Jesus talks of making amends, taking an inventory and helping others. AA saved my life over 25 years ago. I read the Big Book, and other AA literature. I also read the Bible. I am not a religious person but I believe in God. I also believe in AA. AA will work for anyone who is will to work AA.

Thanks for that. I tend to have less patience when it comes to stupid. I can accept ignorance because it means you just don't know and perhaps you can be taught. That BLOWHARD ABUSIVE person I have no patience for.
This is about sobriety and recovery. There is nothing he has that I want. I am just concerned new comers are going to use him as an example and go back out or be fooled into believing his crap.

Listen to how he speaks so contemptuously, he is a poor representation of Christianity at best. That's why I wanted to bring up the analogy my minister made 6+ years ago.
