Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

If you try to imagine that every time you look at your favorite bottle or beer that you are about to open, imagine the label on the bottle says: POISON!!!
DO NOT envy people that drink alcohol. Maybe one day people will view alcohol as they do cigerettes. It is a total turn off, not glamorous, is a slow killer.
You need to make it up to your wife, BIGTIME...
RandomGirl - Thanks for your support. I just hate that I'm trying "AGAIN".. and again and again.
I've asked my wife to store our wine and liquor in the basement so it is not as readily available. I've also thought about getting a locking cabinet that only my wife would have the key for.
A while ago I had printed out a list of reasons that I was choosing not to drink which I would look at each night before and I went to bed and each morning when I woke up. Over time the paper got tattered and eventually I threw it out.
When I wake up hung over like this morning that is another reminder of why I shouldn't drink and yet despite all of these reminders I still do.
And that is what bothers me the most - feeling that it is beyond my control. But I know in my heart that it isn't beyond my control - I know that I CAN stop but I have to remind myself every day - every hour - every whatever - that I WANT to stop.

The next morning was a real head splitter. I decided it was aa or death. I hope I made the right choice. That was June 9, 12. I have not had a drink ( on purpose since). One time I was in a basement and no lie someone put a beer where my coke was. I took a sip and swallowed. I was terrified but the want / desire to stay sober let me not continue. I felt the heat and sort of sweat for a min but went on with sober life.
The booze is like the Death Star tractor beam... You just have to get enough space b/w you and booze to let the pill lessen. I found a lot of help in a daily mtg of aa around witching hr. For me 430
You can and will get sober if you want to
C'mon

Hopefully last night brought you a new level of clarity on what drinking to doing to you and to your marriage. You can get through this 10-12 day barrier. It involves action, like bracelets and locking up alcohol and joining support groups, but it also involves choice and commitment. You got to be all in.
I read a book last night that was interesting in that it suggested that if we look at alcohol as the poison that it is we will no longer desire it and therefore no longer need will power to stop drinking.
Its an interesting perspective - and not entirely incorrect. Alcohol makes you feel bad short term and long term, which is your body's way of telling you that you've put bad stuff into it.
