Alcohol Recovery Without 12 Steps Community Group
This group was created to explore various recovery paths for Alcoholism. We generally chose to explore paths outside of the AA model, or ones which incorporate, but are not limited to AA. Anyone wanting to learn and explore how to become free from alcohol addiction are welcome. Our main goal is to support each other with compassion and decency, while remaining open minded...
Also, to put it bluntly....get used to it. I still have people saying "oh Rick remember the time you were so sh$t faced you did such and such". Comes with the territory but evaporated over time.
Also, considering you want to be a nursing student and employers frequenting FB to do "background" on their applicants - even more reason to firmly request your friend take those off FB without your permission.
Sounds like you answered this one for yourself. Revamp it, update, create new, etc... I personally deleted all my "partying" pictures from my FB upon getting sober for 2 reasons: Simply moving on from it all to cement my lifestyle change and also like Setmefree77 mentioned..... for my Nursing future. It may sound crazy, but schools are even diving into social media to check out applicants these days.

This demon in your life is ultimately not about facebook-and it is not in the past- sounds like it is alive and well, right?
It was amazing to me the embarrassments and horrific calamities that happened to me while drinking never made me see that drinking was the problem, constantly trying to put out little fires after the drinking was exhausting. I don't know why it took me 20 years to figure that out-but it did and here I am, alive thank god.
Just want you to look deeper keep it simple.
KarmicKuru, I do understand that facebook is not "the problem" here. I guess in the beginning every little thing that appeals negative to yourself seems bigger at the moment. Thank you for the advice, I will try to keep a clear open mind and look deeper into this.
But the photo will be forgotten within days, so I wouldn't worry so much about it. Just focus on what you have to do for yourself, and don't worry about what others may think.
