So I am 17 days sober today. I feel good, for the most part. Yesterday after I got out of work it was the last day before my vacation started and when I got off the clock at 9pm, I almost thought about going out for a drink to celebrate the vacation but then stopped myself and was like wait I don't do that anymore. It was just a habit, I would always go out especially if I had a day off the next day I felt compulsive to go and drink and "celebrate". Get hammered basically. Made me realize how real this is. But, low and behold I went home and snuggled in my bed. The right decision.

Good choice! and congrats on 17 days! I, too, found that drinking - or later after I quit - thoughts of drinking were like a knee jerk reaction to certain events (particularly to pain for me, but also happy things, sad things, bad days, good days etc.etc.etc. ;)

At first, the fact that the thought even crossed my mind kind of freaked me out - but it's what you do about that thought that is the real test & I'd say you done good!

17 sounds like a mini-marathon to me; I'm on Day 3, but you inspire me. It's really amazing how I can "gain control" if I stop and think. Good luck and stay thecourse!

Awesome! What kind of sober plans are you making to fill up the vacation? Could be a good time to find some new hobbies or resurrect some old ones. Congrats on 17 days!!! You're doing awesome! Be strong and keep it going!

Sounds like you are doing wicked awesome! 30 days is in your reach now. That is a nice initial milestone which allows you to look back and think about the past month. Keep it up!

My head is seeming to be a lot clearer even in the past 2 weeks. It's amazing. I am actually enjoying being back down to earth.

Wow! That is FANTASTIC! 17 days. I can't seem to get past 3 but I am trying. I personally reckon the best thing about not drinking is waking up without a hangover and the ensuing depression, guilt and anxiety. You have indeed inspired me. Keep going!
