AlAnon One Day At A Time Community Group
This is a group for families and friends affected by someone elses drinking.

Just spoke with a friend who also has an alcoholic close family member and we were able to remind each other that we both have tried to help, probably more than we should have, when we all need to remember, if we don't work on ourselves and our lives, we can't be good to anyone, least of all, enjoy our own lives. I'm thinking of getting back to an al-anon meeting. Sometimes the feeling of complacency comes over me but it's good to remember that we need to stay on track with our own lives and do a lot of praying, rather than turn our lives more upside down than we have in the past. I hope anyone in pain will remember to chat on DS. It's not as "convenient" as it used to be, but then again, it's not as open and invasive as FB can be. This really is a good place. ☺♥

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
I notice this is a very slow-moving forum with comparatively small membership, but I'm putting it on my newsfeed to see what grows.
Some days I believe I have found my support niche here on DS. Other days I think it is just another social media addiction. Pass the e-crack.
Still waffling. . .
I'm sorry your local group changed so much while you were away. Maybe on the daily readers, it's time for some new inspiration. I have two of those books and haven't had them out at all. I do best with a calendar and a goal/to-do list to keep me on track with what I'm doing that's productive. :)
Are DS and FB all that different from the myriad of connection formats and websites I've worked since. The main difference I see is size. The masses have arrived.
Yea, I've been working the theory that my inability to find a new Alanon home group means only that it's time for some new inspiration. I'm not overly confident on how well I'm doing on that goal, but. . . Stepping small and praying big while I work with what Life sends me.
Back before yahoo and possibly AOL, I think the first email I had was netcomm or something and I just took a look online, and "prodigy" sounds familiar as well? I remember dial up well. Now I'll have to double check and see what it was we used to have back then.
I like your idea of stepping small and praying big. There are some local groups I enjoy, like my writing group a social/goals type group, and I really need a few more productive groups. It's good to check things out. Now that it's getting a bit cooler in temperature, it's easier to enjoy getting out more.
