Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
Hi there
It's fine not to want to go overboard in a social way. If you like your own space that's fine. But it sounds like you also want to have some contact. That's great.
Don't over think things. Our random thoughts can punish us for no reason. Ignore the negative thoughts and start to think more positively about yourself.
You are a worthy human being and are allowed to make mistakes. You are just lacking confidence. Confidence will come if you build on success starting in a small way and then getting bigger. Work on yourself and you will get rewards.
Going to group therapy is a really big deal and that is really awesome that you are doing it.
I have had the same reactions about the thought of company coming over. Nausea, anxiety, sweating, getting sick. I usually end up backing out. I feel trapped when my family comes over usually unannounced and I don't really know how to act. Holidays are a nightmare. It makes me feel out of control. I hate it. You are definitely not alone. f you ever want to talk. I am here for you.
