Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
Do you feel undeserving of knowing or having friends who are genuinely nice?
I think I have been on both sides of this. I feel I am a nice person or at least I try to be (I am very sensitive, emotional, compassionate) but for some reason a lot of people do not like me or are not drawn to me. Maybe they think I am fake. Let me know if you figure it out. I would love to know why they make you nervous because maybe I will have some insight into my own situation.
I dealt with a lot of bullying growing up, and a lot of the friends I actually did make later in life all stabbed me in the back or abandoned me at some point. It seems like everyone I meet I am just waiting for that to come true again.
Am I alone in feeling like this?
I had been bullied most or all of my life and now just feel so comfortable to just stay home.
I actully prefer it. For years people always say oh you need to get out like there was something wrong with me but for me I actually prefer to stay home most of the time and there is plenty to do at home.
I enjoy reading books and watching movies when I am thru with the house work. I always feel that people are pressuring me to get out and do this or that when I am happier to just stay at home and I actually prefer it. Now I know that I feel unsafe and nervous in public but still sometimes you just need a day at home to rest.
