Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
Welcome!
yea i get insomnia big time too
:)
So you are not alone on this. The one thing that helps me is music while I sleep. I make a mix, play it, and the make a mini movie of other things in my head.
I know Im weird, but before you know it you will be asleep. It does wonders when im stressed.
Best thing is to be prepared the best you can be......i definetly recommend bringing company with you if it helps to calm you. I had to have a biopsy last summer and i was bouncing off the walls......i brought an "anxiety coach" with me (just a good friend) who i asked to be in the room with me as they did the biopsy (yes, they let her in because i insisted.), and it went much better. Don't be ashamed to ask for help when you need it and insist on something to your benefit.
I don't care what people think, if it's strange, whatever...i have to do what's right for me. That is my # 1 priority and whatever somebody else thinks of it (the doctor, the nurse, the girl behind the counter, whatever..) doesn't concern me in the least.
You could say i am my own biggest cheerleader...lol....don't be afraid to communicate your fears.
Good luck and i hope i could help a little today.
I have to build up to go to appointments like that and if someone springs it on me I melt a little
