Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
The problem with intrusive thoughts is that those of us with panic/anxiety grab hold and analyze why the thought came into our minds and it must mean we're crazy etc.
When we learn to ALLOW it and not FIGHT it, it goes away. What keeps it around is how we react to it.
One technique I learned is to see it float by. Accept it look up and watch it float away like a cloud.
Here's a link to a FREE 8 minutes audio that has been very helpful to me to rid myself of the habit of grabbing those thoughts and holding on to them instead of watching them float away.
Everyone has weird thoughts...but not everyone grabs them and holds on to them and analizes them and fears them.
Scroll down (or read to it) near the bottom of the page and you will find the free audio that helped me get rid of some awful, scary intrusive thoughts. I hope they can help you, also.
