Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
I was also lucky to find a walk-in place where they don't talk to you too much. Kind of snobby but it works for me. ;o)
I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I just feel nuts that I can't get the courage to get in the car and drive to the hair place.
I too, only dye my hair at home now because I got so nervous at the salon last time because it took so long. The upside is that it's tons cheaper!
I never liked the pampering...it always made me feel trapped.
Anyone can give themselves a trim...it's not too hard.
A cosmetologist can look at a picture of someone and know exactly how to cut it.....I can look at that same picture and visualize it being cut...using mirrors....I just realized I'm in need of a trim.
Get a few old wigs from a yard sale and practice on those. It's a lot of fun!
My hair is long with long layers, textured, scissor and razor cut underneath and on top for volume, yada yada yada, LOL...I don't have an easy hairdo! I don't even know what most of that means.
I'll break down one of these days and make it there when I can't take the hair anymore and when I can get my daughter and/or son to go with me for a haircut too.
But yeah, longer hair is a trick to cut on your own...and my arms aren't all that long! So, I adjust mirrors...bend over or tilt to one side and snip snip snip. HAHAHA...
But there are a lot of magazines that do tell you how to cut your own hair...they are straight from cosmetologists. I think they usually have something like that in Hairdo mag....at least they used to. It's been so long since I even bought those.
I'm still worrying about when it's going to be but I'll know the day. I'll just all of a sudden one morning get myself ready and get the kids and go to the salon. (That's why I like the walk-in places! LOL)
Gracie,
I actually have kinda on the thin side hair now because of my age. Not too thin...still looks pretty good. My hair is fine with combo fine and course but was never "thick". I have it layered and textured and razor/scissor cut because it helps keep the bottom half of my hair from being too heavy looking because my hair is naturally curly/wavy. If I don't do that, then it is flat and straight on top and too fluffy at the bottom. I use a flat iron and it looks much better.
The cutting your own hair just seems so hard. I tried to learn from an online website and it just strained my brain! LOL
I had avoided getting my hair cut, until my hair reached mid back and the tips started to die, and moved up, to where my hair was basically dead, from the shoulder down. Too hard to manage it, I took and got it cut off, but while I was there, the woman cutting it, was trying to be very polite to me, and trying to make me comfortable. I just couldn't relax, just being there, made me feel awkward.
:D
just cut your own bangs, and let it grow to the floor.
(cut the bangs level with the tip of your nose,
then trim them to the right position.)
long hair is sexy.
wahls razor with plastic guards.
its simple...
isn't it funny how we are all so similar? lol.
Yes it is. You think you must be the only one and then get on here and find out you aren't. It's comforting to know you aren't alone!
