Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
I don't quite know what it was about yesterday morning....around 8 AM I just felt this overwhelming need to get out of my apartment so I went for a walk.
I actually went for a walk and my OCD's intrusive thoughts hardly intruded upon me at all.
I didn't even feel afraid in The Outside World.
I fully intended upon going for a walk this morning but the anxiety I feel right at my core over the very prospect is overwhelming and I just don't think I can do it.
I do have to go to the store today-I HAVE to...
I don't even know what I am afraid of exactly, what I think will happen to me,it is more this terrible feeling of dread i have within me.
I know I make it bigger than it is.
I don't know how to change this....

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

One of my own therapy tools from the 70's is to detach a bit from the phenom by telling myself, "The Anxiety makes me do it." I don't know if that is still a clinically approved psychotherapy tool, but the personification of my anxiety makes it a bit easier for me to set ^it^ aside for long enough to do whatever need to be done.
But that is me and every case is unique. . .
Continued support while you find what works for you.
And interesting....I have always personified my OCD.
I truly see it as an "entity" that is trying to control me...
