Glad this site helps you. It has been invaluable to me!
I found your blog on your new TGA Active Walker to be most informative and am so happy that it is giving you more mobility to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible in your own home!
I never could get the hang of using a walker when I was in hospital for double shin-splint surgery when I was 45 years old. Now that I am 72 years old, methinks I'd like some day to give one a try, as now, nore often than I'd like, I find it almost impossible to navigate in me house without some sort of help as I occasionally have extreme, painful spasms in my lower back real close to my pelvic girdle encompassing my levoscoliosis with L4 subluxed over L5. Have fallen a lot, injuring my hips, back, arms, legs, feet, shoulders, head, elbows, shoulders; and, just about every other unimaginable part if my body since July 2010 and into this bright shiny new year of 2011.
Yes it helps for few steps and transfers Is till struggle to keep my balance standing. I'd love to be able to stand without having to hold onto anything then can use my arms.
I tried a standing chair last october (see Genie review on my blog) and I'm just waiting for assessment date from NHS after they finally acknowledged my letter last week that I sent last october!!
It was great been able to stand up to make a cup of tea and go round house stood up without having to worry about falls.
I have had alot of falls recently including pulled side muscles and triggering chest pains from muscle spasms. I am hoping they will see I would be safer in a chair I can rest in throughout the day to reduce amount of transfers and falls throughout the day.
Just found out from my pastor that dill pickle juice is a natural way to stop leg cramps. However since I don't have any yet; and, I know that dill pickles in juice tastes vinegary, today, I drank about 6 ounces of undiluted vinegar [5% acetic acid] which sent my mouth to tingling and somewhat upset my stomach for a few minutes, worked! Next time I go shopping, I'll buy some dill pickles in juice and drink the juice as well as eat the pickles which I absolutely adore anyway. I know that whenever I get 3 bean salad with vinegar I eat it with great pleasure.
Hopes this helps!
