A group to help support and heal adult survivors of child abuse. Limited to those who want to change the cycle...not perpetuate it.
One of the mysteries I have not been able to figure out is why talking about child abuse and other types of trauma is considered unacceptable in our society.
If engineers were planning a bridge, you can be sure there would be many discussions at the engineering firm about it.
If there was a pack of wild dogs on the loose killing livestock, you can be sure that the local farmers and ranchers would be all abuzz about what to do about it.
If the young couple down the street just had twins, word would spread like wildfire.
But if you were abused, assaulted, tortured, neglected, abducted, or otherwise maltreated, you're not supposed to talk of such things. You're expected to keep it stuffed inside, often carrying the unmentionable shameful secret to the grave.
Let's break the code of silence and talk about it anyway, because many things in life won't ever change unless we talk about them.
Talking about what happened to you can help you realize that you aren't alone, you aren't crazy, you aren't a bad person because people did bad things to you, and you aren't damaged beyond repair.

It is not normal or expected is and very, very painful to discuss the fact that the person who was supposed to be the one who loved you the most in the entire world seemed to be hellbent on destroying you. And talking about anything that is not sunshine and rainbows and butterflies makes everyone in the world ostracize you.
