IV sedation in different from genral anesthesia. With general, there is a tube inside your windpipe. With IV sedation, you
you have no tube.

Used to work for a periodontist that used IV sedation. The IV sedation allowed her to do oral surgery with more patient comfort beyond
just the local anesthetic in the patient's mouth.

Oral surgeons will also use IV sedation.

Some pedodontists will use IV sedation in a hospital setting or have an anesthesiologist
present in the private practice setting.

I would not let just any one do IV sedation.
Check around with health care providers & do
your homework. Find out who has an excellent
repution regarding IV sedation.

I had IV sedation yesterday for a tooth and about a year ago to have my wisdom teeth pulled. It is well worth the extra money if the dentist makes you uncomfortable. But do check around and find a good dentist.

i had iv sedation for an impacted wisdom tooth. it was lovely lol. They started the iv, i was talking...next think i know i wake up in another room and its all over. I highly recommend it.

I had Oral surgery 4 times this year for gun disease. I was given and IV three times never had a problem. My Oral surgeon is trained in administering IV
My IV's were given by injection.

I just had 2 1/2 hours under IV Sedation. I don't remember much except for maybe the last 15 minutes. But it wasn't the kind of fear that comes from not being under anesthesia, I was a lot more relaxed. Overall it was a good experience, something I would do again. I had 12 cavaties to fill and they even cleaned my teeth. So glad I wasn't awake for it. :)
