I have been using ACT Fluoride Rinse for Many Years now after brushing and before bed. I saw that they have a new mouthwash avertised for dry mouth and I tried to look up info on this online last night. I got into some site run by a dentist who has some videos on You tube and he was talking about how acidic mouthwashes can damage your teeth. He did list that ACt Restoring mouthwash had a PH of 6.6 and that was the best of the ones he listed. I have contacted the makers of ACT Fluoride Rinse and they told me that all the ACT Fluoride Rinses have a PH between 6 and 7. The question I have is Can Act Fluoride Rinse damage the teeth at all having a slighty acidic PH? I always thought I was helping my teeth by using this and wonder if this is still the case. My purpose in using ACT is to build my teeths resistance to acid attacks and now I am scared to use it because the Ph isn't neutral. If there is anyone that knows anything about this I would appreciate a response. I posed this question to dental health professionals/ Hygenists, but would love to hear from anyone that knows about this.

I am not sure about this one but thats a great question that I wonder about too.
I use ACT too to fight cavities and protect my teeth.
I also use the generic brand of ACT but my friend told me that I had to use the regular name brand to get it to work.
I really am concerned with this and we need someone who really knows about this to comment.
I will ask my dental hygienist friend and report back to you.

I worked in the dental field and have never worked for a dentist that didn't recommend regular cinnamon ACT flouride rinse. Here's and interesting blog from a dentist re ACT. Hope this helps.

Does it have to be the original or can it be an imitation of the original product

cinnamon is the flavor thats been around the longest, is the most popular and therefore has been more thoroughly researched. If you use the off brands check the active and inactive ingredients list and really compare them. The other thing you might try is sensodyne toothpaste. It has lots of good flouride in it and will act in some of the same ways that ACT does. I hope this helps... Its tough to always know what to do. The fact that you're asking questions and seeking answers make me think you're probably doing a great job of takling care of your teeth. That makes me smille inside. I LOVE healthy mouth. I kno its silly, but I really do. : )

Well thanks for the reply on cinnamon mouthwash. I tend to not go for anything cinnamin or spearmint. Even cinnamin gum makes my mouth feel strange and same with spearmint gum and toothpaste. I have been told it does not take away germs as well as others.

I have had no luck with sensodyne toothpaste it actually hurts my teeth if you can believe that. I do have sensitive teeth and gums and I do try to really take care of my teeth. I know a lot of people don't floss like its not important but I do floss a lot and brush my teeth well but still have problems. I wear retainers to keep my teeth from moving around and I only wear them at night but they have caused me to have stains on my teeth. My dentist says my teeth are always so clean and they are clean without buildup but they are stained with stains that don't come off.

He says don't smoke or drink coffee and I don't do either of those things but I do look like a smoker or coffee drinker when it comes to my teeth.
