Adult children of narcissistic parents Community Group
A space to explore our thoughts, feelings and experiences that have occurred as result of our childhoods with narcissistic parents (one or both). It is hoped that we can use this space as a further tool by which to take control of our lives from those we have inadvertantly relinquished it to, heal the hurt and be happy.
When I talk about my past even to my closest friends there is a disconnect. They don't really hear, or can't relate to what I am saying when I talk about my family. I have been no contact with my mom, who I beleive is a sociopath(Ibeleive she was involved in a crime when I was younger), for a year now. Things in my life are better, and I don't really miss her, which makes me sad. I want to miss her, but I don't. I can feel her rage at me, even though we haven't spoken. It takes a lot of energy to fight the her that is within me. I know that she beleives that I don't have the right to leave. I just want to know that there others out there that can relate. When I try to explain individual things she has done, others, although I know they are well meaning, and are coming from their own references of an over controlling toxic parent, misinterpret the feeling of what I am trying to say. The most common comment I got from talking to my oldest friends that knew me as a teen, was that they realized I was alone in the family. I was, and still am. I just don't want to be alone anymore.
