I remember growing up with a neighbor with spina bifida. He too had to wear diapers as a result. Ialso hid my diapers from my wife for years because of my embarassment. How did you hide them from your partner for so long? It was so difficult for me and eventually I couldn't take the work anymore. I remember cleaning sheets and clothes at laundry mats during the day. Hiding wet sheets in crazy places until I could get them cleaned. Opening a PO box so that I could have diapers sent to me because I was so ashamed and embarrassed to buy them at a drug store. Life was not easy. Although I did tell her about my bedwetting it still isn't easy because I think she views me differently even though she promises it's not true. It isn't easy but I do sleep better at night now that I wear every night. Good luck with all that you are going through and it's easy to say that to someone but I know lip service comes pretty easy.

The worst part about my type of spina bifida is that nothing can fix it. My spinal cord is tethered due to it. So this is the lovely side effect I will always have.

I hid it from him only for a couple of years. Eventually I had no choice but to tell him due to an accident I couldn't hide. He was fine at first but I felt that he was acting different... well inventually he became angry with me when my diaper would leak or I'd have an accident. To the point where he would yell at me and sleep on the couch. Eventually after 6 years and a child we went our seperate ways. I've told one other guy since then and he made me feel like a child because of it. He was usually nice about it but acted as if I was a helpless kid. Because of this I have decided to pretty much stay single. Sad but true. It's not worth telling someone and having to wonder if one day they will stop caring for me because of it. I hope all continues well for you with your wife. I imagine it is lovely to have someone that loves you either way.

I am so sorry for what you have gone through and what you are continuing to endure but don't lose hope. If you shut all doors you may miss an opportunity for something wonderful. Don't lose hope. Be careful and protect yourself but I guarantee there is someone out there for you and it may take a ton of disappointments but they may be what it takes to find the right one. Then again he may be the next one you meet. Hang in there.

The only thing your ex-husband should be mad at is, if you chose not to wear protection to bed and making him wet. If your had protection and it leaked, you needed a stronger product that will keep you dry at night. I learned of my spina bifida when I was age 9 and was 24/7 in diapers. Denial is something everyone has to work through with wetting and diapers. I had a lot of emotions to conquer along with the teasing and opinions of others. It would have to be easier as an adult coming into this situation as opposed to a kid and their peer group.

I am soory for what you have went through lynn. My spina bifida i believe may be a different type than yours. A portion of my spinal column is missing and at that area my spinal cord is tethered. It directlyeffects my bladder and kidneys but from the outside you cant see anything wrong. So no i did not have bullying kids to deal with. I did however avoid sleepovers as much as possible. I have worn diapers to bed my whole life. I have had to tell people over the years for this reason or that and as a child i was ashamed. As an adult it is getting easier to tell someone if needed but it isnt always easy.
