the way how you prepare your padding sounds very complicate; but more important is that it works for you. I use all-in-one diaper pants with additional booster pads depending on the situation. All of these pants and pads are washable. Since a few days I also use disposable soaker pads without plastic backing. They soak a lot and are easy to replace. The whole changing is quite easy and not time consuming at all. I also wear plastic pants in certain situations but usually the all-in-ones are waterproof.
