Good morning. Sorry to hear about what he is going through. Depending on the amount of leakage there are different products available. For minor leaks they have disposable absorbent underwear that look much more like regular underwear than a diaper. If his leakage is heavy a diaper may his only option for now. Hopefully his doctors can figure out the cause & get it taken care of. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Hi jill. Sorry to hear about the issue you and your husband are having dealing with him bedwetting. He did the right thing by going to the doctor to see what might be causeing it, mine is due to oab with incontinence, which I take a pill and it’s helped about 80% of the time. Now on to protection the taboo subject. I learned for a goods night sleep for me AND MY WIFE that wearing a diaper to bed was not a big deal, I’ve been on medication for a couple of years and I still wear a diaper at night just in case. I was reluctant to wear one at first but my wife said either I do or sleep somewhere else, but I use to wet the bed and wore diapers until about 11 or 12 years old so it wasn’t a new thing lol.
For me pull-ups don’t worked and leaked every night. And the drug store brands suck just as bad so i don’t even bother with them. I order from xpmedical online and I get a good product to last all night. For me I use abena L4 or better dry. Both are plastic backed and I might have an occasional leak maybe 1x a month with either.
Be supportive but firm as much as you can cause you need your rest also. My wife is very supportive with mine and makes sure I have it on before I fall asleep. I travel for a living so I had to deal with it so I don’t ruin hotel beds and such. It’s easy to learn how to put them on yourself but sometimes (especially when I sick) she will diaper me, SO you will probably need to help him at first putting it on so it won’t leak which was a little degrading at first but Once he learns that instead of you and him having to deal with WET sheets and bed vs getting a good nights sleep with wearing protection the pros will out weight the cons by a long shot.

It can be really hard on a man to accept wearing protection. However, it really is the best in the end. Changing sheets every day gets really hard.

I know changing sheets frequently is a real pain.

I'm a 37 year old man, and my wife is also largely supportive. My bedwetting went from sporadic to regular just after my 30th birthday, so I'm back in diapers at night since then. None of my Dr's shave been able to help.

Do you know what his particular fear of wearing a diaper is?

My fear when wearing a diaper outside my home is that people notice it and laugh about me or make rude comments. Kids are worse but I understand their curiosity.

Totally agree that seeing a GP is the best avenue and there's nothing wrong with getting a 2nd opinion. I've found some doctors to be more helpful than others... Can understand being reluctant to wear protection at first but can say from experience that you get used to it soon enough, just make sure you use products to prevent rashes because they will happen eventually otherwise. He's lucky to have such a supportive partner! You don't always get that as a bedwetting adult. Best of luck :)

Hi Jill . I hope things are looking up. Diapers have an undeserved stigma about being for babies when they are a very effective way of dealing with enuresus. Hopefully he will also realize that he isn't alone because they are
easily available in his size.

Keeping researching for a cause. I still am. Never give up. I've found that persistence pays off. Realize he feels bad enough as it is.
