So as a life long bed wetter (thank you spina bifida and neuropathy for making it possible) I am at my wits end with buying diapers, mattress pads, plastic sheets, mattress cleaners and almost every year a new mattress!!!
Before anyone says I'm not being preventive enough with my bed wetting... I pee non stop all night long and full force. I have 3 kidneys, my bladder never fuller developed so it is the size of a child's bladder... all 3 kidneys emptying into my tiny bladder at night while my bladder can't get the right signal to my brain to say "WAKE UP YOU'RE GOING TO PEE!!!" results in major urination while sleeping. As I get older it is getting worse mostly because on top of the form of spina bifida (which causes my bedwetting) I have now in my ripe age of 30 (actually it started 3 years ago... I'm aged beyond my years apparently) I developed a nerve disease (still to be determined what is causing it) and I now have small fiber neuropathy. The nerve damage from this has made things a little bit worse and also causes extreme exhaustion. I'm rambling... sorry... my point is because of all of this craziness even with diapers on I have accidents, some nights worse than others ( it is extremely rare for me to have a dry night, I'd say 2-3 times per month if I'm lucky) ... Sometimes I pass out without anything on which is awful because I wake up soaked literally from my hair to my toes. The plastic sheets break down after a while of being peed on and wiped clean so they leak ( I usually keep 2+ plastic sheets on my bed) sometimes the smell is so bad and strong I have to throw all of the sheets away because I can't get them clean and then have to hope walmart has them in stock (because sometimes they do sometimes they don't and usually when they do the night stocker has cut the sheets opening the box but put them on the shelf anyway... I went through that for 3 months straight before they finally stopped cutting them all the time).
Where I am at now is that I need an option for a bed that won't be completely destroyed if there is an accident. I am thinking air mattress as a temporary mattress. My long term goal would be to eventually (I do not currently have insurance) talk to my PCP and see about doing self nighttime catheterization. Has anyone one this or do this? Also any input on the mattress is welcome too. I'm just fed up. 30 years dealing with pee every morning is driving me crazy.

In 2013 I had an accident resulting in spinal injury at the base of my neck with paralysis from there down, spasticity (muscle contractions and spasms) and double incontinence. Both my anus and my urethra have been left closed except with manual intervention. I hardly ever pass urine via the usual route (I have a suprapubic catheter passing directly into my bladder about 2 inches below my...
I am also a very heavy wetter at night so in addition to a disposable you can use plastic pants or could even consider cloth diapers.
