A very special man in my life has just met his birth mother. Times were different back in the 50's & life as an unwed mother in that decade was complicated. His adoptive parents were decent people & he cared about them but he always felt different & like something important was missing in his life. He sought out his birth mother after his adoptive parents passed away. His imagination had led him to all types of places & wrong assumptions as to who his birth parents were & why they gave him up. An entire lifetime of what ifs & why. Confusion & questions about his genetic & health history. The reunion went remarkably well & I couldn't be happier for them. They had an immediate connection & understanding of each other that was amazing to witness. It is a bit overwhelming to process the emotions that comes when a person undertakes this journey & the fear of meeting virtual strangers produces anxiety for all. They both opened the door & made themselves vulnerable & it takes a lot of courage to do that. There are many situations where the outcome has been less than ideal. I'm sharing this story because it has touched me in ways I didn't expect. The heart is remarkable & relationships mean everything. Life is Love. Today, 60-years later, is a positive affirmation of that. Wishing you peace.
