Adoption Support Group
Adoption is the legal act of permanently placing a child with a parent or parents other than the birth parents. Whether you are looking to adopt, putting your child up for adoption, parenting an adopted child, or just thinking about it, this is the place to discuss.
So yes I very much understand the feeling of not being good enough and being abandoned.
My suggestion to anyone with this issue is to appreciate the mother and father who didn't abandon you...your adopted parents.
I am the mother of 3 and I gave my youngest daughter up for adoption 27 years ago.
Never once was she not wanted. Not one-day goes by that I do not think of her, and I was not giving her up, I was giving her a life that was hopefully to be better than what I could provide at that time.
To carry your child for 9 months and then placing for adoption is not an act of selfishness or hate. It is an act of compassion. It is an act of pure love to give a child birth and place it with parents that are not yourself.
I can understand where you are all coming from but I think you should try to see things from the birth parent's point.
My story in a paragraph.
I had a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old. I was not supposed to be able to become pregnant but did. My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer which was devastating. I personally was not able to mentally or emotionally provide for a baby when my husband was dying and I had two toddlers. The only option for me for as an individual was adoption. My baby girl went to parents that had been trying for 13 years to have a baby.
Talisia was not unloved or unwanted. She is very much loved. But she deserved to have a life that I was unable to provide.
It is very easy to abort a child. Less guilt, less connection, less memories of carrying this life for 9 months but to give a child up for adoption is realizing that it is about the child and the sacrifice and pain we endure to secure you a better life is priceless.
But know that you are not alone! there are several adoption support groups on facebook and elsewhere.
Adoption sucks for many who live with it, even though the world at lareg glamorizes and promotes it as a win-win.
