Hey folks - I've heard some requests from folks who want to break up this community into more focused sub-communities, so that we can lighten up some of the recent tension we've been having between different folks.

Can I ask your help in deciding what new communities we should create? We've heard votes for Birth Parents, Wanting To Adopt, and possibly a community for people who have been adopted.

I'd love to get your thoughts and feedback.

I like us all together. I like seeing all the different views and different stories.

I like it the way it is. I get to view and hear all sides of the equation. This helps me give my son a balanced view of things and keeps me grounded. I like hearing the different sides, even if we do not all agree. I have joined subgroups specific to adoptive parents and adopting foster children and I am careful to go there for specific support that I need from people in my shoes. I agree that things get heated and it is a shame that there are a few that can stir up the pot. But I think we are all adults here and the majority of us support one another.

I do feel bad as there have been some people who have left and I miss them. I know that the people who are giving the "mean" comments are speaking out of their own pain and anger. Hearing them causes me to at least think about things. I will try not to take that personally. But I wish others could do the same. I don't want to see anyone else leave.

My vote is to keep it the way it is.

I'm not sure if we can really be a complete group by spliting it up. I'm not sure if a wanting to adopt community would be complete without having birth parents and adopted individuals being able to add their opinions and thoughts.

As a recent member, I like it the way it is. The tension I saw was to me minimal. For the sake of the younger members, I would like it to stay the way it is and everyone maybe try to be kinder to those you don't really know.

I too like the group the way it is. I enjoy hearing other stories and being able to communicate with other groups of the adoption triad.

I'm not sure that breaking up the community will eliminate any problems. Message boards in general can be problematic from time to time. It's best to just ignore the instigators. As for me, I like the board the way it is. It's interesting and very insightful!
