We've never adopted that many at once but you have to prepare yourselves for the adjustment period that it will take.It may be a little overwhelming for a while but I wouldn't discourage you.They will give you time to get to know the children first before you start the adoption process won't they?Sounds exciting!

We have three siblings adopted from CPS, but they were placed one at a time. First a newborn premie girl, six months later her sisteen month old brother, and then a year later they called and said mom had another boy, can you take him. Their Christmas pic is on my profile. The most important things to know are their ages, conditions, and history. The older they are, the more difficult it can be. Most kids have suffered neglect rather than abuse, but neglect can really mess up a kids mind if it is extensive or occurs at a point of critical development. Look for signs of serious attachment issues, carefully review the family info for signs of mental illness. Find out why their current foster family isn't adopting them. And understand much of what you need to know may not have been disclosed by the children yet. Two of our three arrived straight from the hospital, and the older boy was only sixteen months. He still has issues, but they are minor and easy to deal with. Please post more info when you have bit, and feel free to ask any questions you might have. Congrats!

I can not attest to any of this first hand. However, my girlfriend was adopted by a WONDERFUL couple, who were not able to have children, along with her older brother and sister. It worked to the best for everyone involved. Her parents showed them all love and treated them as their own. I feel this should be done no matter how many children are involve, adopted or biological. I too was adopted at a very early age, and was treated as an outsider to their two children. (Made ME a better dad ;) ) So simply put, my advice is to treat them as if they were your own.

I am so glad that it was put that my sister & I were to be kept together. I just wish they had done the same for my brother. I am so glad I had her. She was my best friend. I cant imagine what life would have been without her. If you have enough love to give all of them then I dont think they should be separated. Of course this is my opinion but I am grateful everyday that we were kept together. At least some of the hole in my heart wasnt incomplete until her car accident & she died. But my husband & I adopted her son. So life goes on. Only if I could find my other siblings then I feel I would be complete totally. God Bless you on your decision because I am sure you will do what is best for your family & everyone concerned. But think about them & the trauma of being separated.

Thanks Everyone - we just received the wonderful news that we have been selected to be their forever family - we are so excited!!!!

We have not met them yet, but we are hopeful to have them home in the next couple of weeks - right now we are trying to get the house ready - any ideas or suggestions on starting out lives together would be most appreciated. Especially the first few weeks - thanks everybody!

I just have to say that you GREAT!!! I am an adoptee who was adopted along with my 2 siblings and i am always thankful that they kept us together!!! although i had foster parents my older sister was like my mother for the first 3 years of my life specially when we were with my bio mother. they will always have each other and it will be easier on them and now they will always have you and be a part of a wonderful family

We adopted sibling set of 2 all at one time. They came to live with us in Jan 2004. We did not have biokids of our own. So we got two babies. It was like having twins because my dtr (17m) didn't walk and had special needs. Our son was 6m old. It was a huge adjustment for us as we had to have 2 of everything. At least your set is older and more independent.

There could be a whole host of issues along with a whole host of joys. Since you have already raised two children, you already know what to do....there will just be more work as they will all come at one time.

Yes my husband and I adopted a sib group of 3 ages at that time were 5-2-11. We do not have any of our own bio children so when wee took on 3 of them that we too adopted through an agency that deals with CPS, we took on a job and a half.

The girls now 3-12 are pretty much doing just fine, but our boy now 6 has been a mess since we took him in and only seems to get worse with every passing day. We are in the process of getting him some in patient treatment in a facility. He needs a lot of help. But just because we are having a problem with this child, does not mean that you will experience the same...Good luck to you.
