2. Request an IEP update meeting prior to school opening or right at the start of the school year so you can jump start the situation.
3. Arrange for a child advocate attorney to go with you to the meeting. You have a legal right to bring one, and the presence of one will convey the message "I need your attention."
4. When it's time for you to talk, hand out copies of your Venn Diagram to everyone at the table (make 10-20) and simply go through the facts. Educators cannot argue data.
5. Let the child advocate do their thing when needed. End with the question, "If you will not (can not is not an option legally) meet my child's needs, then what will you be doing to ensure his needs are met?" THEN....GET IT IN WRITING.
