Hi everyone,
I am new here, and just wanted to introduce myself. I think a support group is exactly what I need right now to help me.
My 9 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD in May of last year. Most of last year consisted of going through psycho-educational testing, and the testing for ADHD, and I've since gotten an IEP in place for him in school. His biggest difficulties are in class, focusing, remaining in his seat, forgetting his work, staying on task, etc. Most days he gets very little done in school. The IEP is focusing on reward systems and positive reinforcement, which have been somewhat helpful, but not enough, and my son is really struggling.
I have decided to try medication, which was always viewed as a 'last resort', but I can't bear to see my boy struggle anymore. We have a trial of Biphentin which we will be starting following a check with his pediatrician.
Being a single mom and not really having anyone close to me to lean on who understands what I am going through, I think I have a lot to gain by coming here and sharing experiences. I look forward to getting to know everyone!

I was diagnosed with ADD recently and can understand how your son must be feeling. You're a good mom to take care of this now!!! Wish my mom had.
