Two years ago my psychiatrist asked me if I had any kind of learning disability do to my poor performance in highschool (I graduated in 2013) to which I responded "no." I had never been tested for anything and teachers assumed if they just tutored me more, I'd do better.
It's 2016 and I'm starting to realize (thanks to a super demanding job) that I literally cannot focus for more than five minutes. I can't multitask and feel that I work very slowly because my brain is hopping about. Once or twice music has helped, but usually it doesn't. I'm having trouble just typing this.
I constantly feel like I'm going to get in trouble at work or that everyone I work with is annoyed with me or is watching my performance. I become furious, at which point I shut down and don't speak and often contemplate walking out, taking the lift home and not coming back. This isn't a new feeling since I've been working and out of school. This creates anxiety and more anger because it's a cyclical.
I thought it was normal and that I was just a typical adult, being stressed out beyond belief, not being able to pay attention and being almost explosively angry towards coworkers and customers (although I haven't had an outburst yet).
I already have OCD and bi polar. I'm also scared of stimulants because I did take an adderall once a long time ago and it caused me to have a massive panic attack.
Does it sound like I might have some form of an attention deficit disorder? I feel like after researching my symptoms it makes sense and that I've hit the nail on the head. However I have two months before my next psyche appointment and it's getting out of hand. Not sure what to.

All I can say is that if you think you may have it, then it's worth exploring. Rather than letting the internet diagnose you, talk to your doctor or psychiatrist, if you still have one. I was diagnosed with adult ADHD last year and suddenly, so many things made sense. They will have a questionnaire that gives a pretty good indication of if ADHD is likely or not. The medication can help, but only to a degree. It really pays to have a proper diagnosis and then get some counselling and support on how to manage your 'symptoms' in real life. Good luck!

I hate stimulants too and they do have their sides. Fact is though if you truly have it it will help. If you don't considering your other "personality gifts" it will just fuel them. They give me great calmness in my head but I feel the Speed in my body. I spent 20 years denying my diagnosis and told myself my deep bouts of depression should be where I focus my energy to cure. Crazy thing is my depression is now gone after 18 months on ADHD meds. Turns out it all stemmed from self hatred for not achieving my goals do to lack of focus.
