My son has been on methlyn and adderral. He lost too much weight on those meds. His behavior was good on the adderral but he lost the most weight on it. He has been on strattera for a week and he is so wild, the good thing is his tummy doesnt hurt and he is eating. Will upping his dose help with the hyperness? Anyone have any advice?

I'm on strattera for over 5 years........the only thing I thought about have you made sure your son doesn't have more than one disorder because it's quite common for people to have more than one at a time.....myself I'm bipolar II,ocd and add. Why, I say this is the meds that work for add don't really work for bipolar....so it makes finding the right cocktail of meds a lot harder. I'm, on right now Wellburtin,Carbmazepine and strattera Betty

I'm an ADDult and I've been on Strattera for over a month now. From what I've read about Strattera, it can take up to a month for this drug to show its effectiveness, so you might not notice any positive changes after only one week. In that sense, you won't see immediate progress with Strattera as you do with Adderral and Ritalin or Methlyn. Consistency (taking it each day at the same time without skipping doses) is the key.

For me, the Strattera has not helped me at 40 MG once per day. Side effects are not bad except for what I think is antisocial tendencies that come out in me with this drug in particular. I too am going to ask my MD about changing the dosage. Strattera works for some and not for others.
