I think it has its advantages though. I'm always hungry for something new and everything is exciting to me. Plus, studies show people with ADHD have larger memory spans and are more creative.
Ritalin worked for me when I was younger, but I have bipolar and can no longer take it. It really changed my life growing up, though. So I really hope it does something for you. Personally, I'm taking intuniv and short acting ritalin in the afternoons and I'm about to start taking a natural med called synaptol. There's also various therapies you can try. I'm planning on participating in biofeedback which is retraining brain waves. It's actually much safer than medication and for some people it has truly relieved them of adhd symptoms. Hopefully it will do something great for me. Also meditation and hypnosis can be helpful as well.
Ritalin works wonders, but it's really really awful for you. So if you happen upon anything else that works, I definitely wouldn't pass it up.
You're not alone, and that's wonderful (but it still sucks that we can't seem to not overcommit or overstretch our limits!)
Hey chailover, what's wrong with Ritalin? i never heard any negatives, just positives.
I don't really want to be relieved of ADD if Ritalin will help me concentrate :) Then they'll take away my Ritalin! Anyhow at my age probably too late, I have been crazy my whole life why not keep the train going... i just want to be able to stick to a #^&*@& project so i can finish it, reap rewards, stop moving into cheaper and cheaper apartments, it's been backwards for a decade.... i need to be able to keep a job at least... i have walked away from plenty of really decent positions and always found myself then soon hungry and suffering.. what a knob... that part must change.
Its still hard, i still put my foot in my mouth, and i sometimes do mad things but now i know im doing it and i can try to keep myself in check.
I have a really high IQ, but i failed almost every test in school, however once i started Ritalin i went back to college and started getting straight A,
Wish you best of luck and i hope you will have the same sucess i had with it.
