I have been trying to research some ways to get my daughter off the meds. I have found some talk about a crawling therapy. If I understand this correctly it is saying that my daughters ADHD may be caused by the fact that she did not crawl as a child. She started walking at 8 months and never crawled once. I feel this is a major possibility but I cannot afford to purchase the books nor take her to the clinic for help. Also she shows 9 of 13 signs of Aspergers syndrome. Cannot get a DX because she does so well in school. So now I am lost. I would love to do the crawling therapy to see if it helps but where does one get the info on how to conduct this experiment if one cannot afford the books? Where does one go to get a DX when the local agencies that help employ therapist that have never heard of Aspergers Syndrome? My daughter is one who has never like to be held not even as a baby she would stiffen up and be tense for the entire feeding. This makes you feel rejected. Her issues have been going on since birth and these are all ignored by the doctors. I tried the natural remedies and had to without choice put her on meds because they would not allow her in the public schools here and we only have two private schools. one has a three year waiting list and the other has very bad reputation, who could afford those anyway? IF i could get someone to listen it would help, now with all the changes to medicaid it is only harder now. Next move of the system is to refuse to pay for ADHD meds and kick her out of school. What a sad world we live in when Dr's and agencies don't fulfill their obligations.
I have not heard of crawling therapy, but often you can research new treatments by going onto the American Psychological Association's (APA) website and doing a search on the selected therapy. I was recommended this site by a friend who is a developmental psychologist and found it to be helpful in locating links to upcoming/new treatments or research studies. You can also try this link:

to locate professionals in your area. Often you can also google your state and "psychological association" and find the state chapter, often which has a psychologist locator.
It is disappointing to hear that professionals in your area are not knowledgeable about Aspergers; it is their ethical responsibility to stay up to date on current affairs as well as to refer you to professionals who specialize or may be more competent to treat your child. Perhaps you could ask for a referral? Good luck!
