I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 47. I am in my second semester at a university. my insurance refused to pay for the medication because they do not recognize adults with ADHD. It took three weeks before my insurance did decided to pay for the medication. As a child I was not diagnosed with it because of my culture. I am on my third week of Adderall and it is helping me to focus in the classroom and I have less fatigue during the day.

I finally decided to pay for the Adderall myself without going through the insurance and it is already making a world of difference! Finally, after about 5 weeks, my psychiatrist was able to appeal and convince the insurance to pay, thank goodness. It really does help so much!

I am very happy that your insurance is paying for your medication. It does help because you truly have ADHD.

I'm still trying to find the right med for me. ADHD, depression, anxiety...single mom who needs to figure out how to manage life and I feel like I'm failing miserably:( My youngest has ADHD as well and my teen has anxiety so we're kind of a hot mess over here!

Oh you poor thing mdpid. I can't imagine if my son had it as well. I've been a single mom as well, and boy do I understand the pressure! I wish the best for you. Hope you find what works!

Before I was diagnosed with ADHD I was feeling the same way. Depressed, anxiety because of school and being a single mother. I am only taking one prescription and that is for my ADHD, but it is also helping with my depression, anxiety and fatigue.

I was diagnosed less than a month ago. I am making fewer mistakes but still having made mistakes all eyes are on me. I am taking one prescription and it seems to be helping as well as i see a counselor.

I do not think because you are on a prescription will prevent you from making mistakes. what it will do is take away the anxiety and the fatigue, you will also be able to better focus on certain things like school or meetings.

Hi i am 41 and have been prescribed methylphenidate for the last 8 years . I am a super fan and have seen the benefits of this drug . I have tried slow release all the other ideas and choose ten milligram pill every 4 hours the best for me .

With out this drug i suffer from panic attacks and continuous revolving thoughts ,over the years i have enjoyed many success that before seemed not possible. With this drug i became very self confident and creative .

Rewind i am a 8 years clean and destroyed most of my frontal lobe with cocaine i never used coke the way other people used it and found it helped me sleep and made the thoughts in my head slow down but like any other drug i lost control of my life .

In rehab i was given lots of stuff for panic only thing that stuck was Ritalin.I am writing this as i am in some kind of spiral after 6 years of great life finding new things about my self i did not no i could do and being at the top of my game ....My health my body just sort of fell apart.

I started seeing little issues and now had full grown problems starting with kidney stones that came in packs of six that had to be surgically removed to a horrible thing called a perianal fistula that just will not heal .Recently a dvt and second fistula .

Keeping in mind i used hard drugs for 10 years plus i sort of think this could be the reason for my blood clot kidney stones and fistula .....i all so use 90 milligrams of Ritalin a day 3 pills in the morning afternoon and night...( Note after 8 YEARS and my weight gain from office type job 30 milligrams is my max and anyone taking more who is new to this drug is stupid )

Take to much and you will become stuck and doing anything will become hard if you going to use a drug that affects your brain see a doctor that deals with brains ....I do not think Ritalin is behind my health issues and my doctors are a little stumped as to why i am not healthy .If you read this and think Ritalin could be causing my health issues please reply .

This drug is very good but beware that it can lend its self to being obsessed with perfection and a balanced focus of all aspects of life is often neglected .
