ADHD / ADD Support Group
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) are more common than you might think. It is a syndrome that exhibits symptoms such as hyperactivity, forgetfulness, mood shifts, poor impulse control, and distractibility. Join others who suffer from these conditions and share your experiences.
As far as school goes, seek out accomendations from your college. When I got my official DSMIV diagnosis I went to my Special Services office for Students with Disabilities at my school. I get a notetaker, extended testing time, a one on one tutor, and meet with a counselor once a week to make sure im on track with school.
If you need any more info I would be glad to help you out! I am also new at this!
I have both ADHD and ADD and I have an anxiety disorder. I never took meds during school, etc. I have never taken meds for the anxiety disorder and in terms of my ADHD, I am new to adderall as I have been on it for a little over a month.
My reasons for being on it is a trial and error situation, NOT a do or die as it can be for some people. I am NOT anti-medicine at all, but I am very aware that success can be made in other ways if you are willing to deal with it. NOT the easiest route but none the less it can be done.
I did not have the life coach or behavior modification suggestions that are posted to date. I'm not knocking any of those ideas as I know each work, just like medicine, for a lot of people. However, there is a way, again, not an easy route, that you can accomplish your goals without having to deal with medicine.
If you are interested, hit me up when you get a chance and I'll be more then happy to share. Especially if it something in regards to school, I am sure that you can take my experience and others and use it to your benefit.
God bless!
