ADHD / ADD Support Group
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) are more common than you might think. It is a syndrome that exhibits symptoms such as hyperactivity, forgetfulness, mood shifts, poor impulse control, and distractibility. Join others who suffer from these conditions and share your experiences.
Sometimes people get misdiagnosed with ADHD and actually have BPD.
I would start researching BPD symptoms and see if you feel it fits you. There are very specific characteristics of it but impulsivity and mood issues are 2 of them and that also fits in with ADHD.
Are there any mental health support agencies in your area? I would start there. BPD is a very challenging mental health issue and you need to get assessed by a specialist in mental health not a general doctor. A psychiatrist is better at this. There are some meds that work for it but you need support if you do have it. get a referral to a specialist not a generalist.
Get yourself educated on BPD. There is a lot of new research out there on it and it often takes years before you get properly diagnosed with it.
I hope this helps.
I really thought when I read through the BPD diagnosis online that it seemed normal to be that way so I suppose I really should start there. However because of the way I am ... you might guess I find it agitating and insulting that I have to do so lol....
Group therapy has been suggested with other women with BPD but I don't know if having more than one of me in one room is such an amazing idea ;]
I will look through the old posts and see what I can dig up! Thank you again and best wishes xx
You have to look at how much the symptoms impair your life and your relationships. If you can see how the symptoms affect you in your life a lot then you need to go down this road of determining what you have for sure and how best to treat it. There are new therapies that work better for BPD. It can be a tough one and you do need decent help and support for it.
I think when we get used to living our life and functioning a certain way and it seems normal because we are used to it. Then someone says something to you and it can shake you up a bit and makes you think about how effectively you cope etc..
All the best to you! You deserve a life of feeling great and coping well. BPD really affects this type of thing. So be strong and get to the bottom of it.
you have a great attitude towards life...keep it up...take care sending love
