I don't respond to the whining other than, "let me know when you're ready to use your regular voice." Or something along those lines. Sometimes it's really tough. The whining makes me crazy. I have two other children so it can really affect the family dynamics.
I know she's exhausted at the end of the day, mentally, physically and emotionally so I give her some space and time when she's struggling.
Good luck!
You could try some forms of rewards, although I feel like rewards such as: electronics, junk food etc. Is something maybe you shouldn't do as the child may expect that every time and it wont be as special. If you know what I mean? You could try the sticker chart as Sharon o said, and have a row for every week. If your child has earnt a sticker everyday for the whole week on Sunday the last day of the week you could buy him a treat or take him somewhere special. Then it will probably give him a sense of achievement also. As I know from experience people with ADHD tend to forget everyday routines so maybe you could write him up a 'to-do list' and stick it somewhere he will see and read it everyday reminding him of what he has to-do such as eat. If you want any other ideas feel free to private message me :)
I hope this is helpful, good luck to you and your son. He sound like an amazing kid xxx
