Addison's Disease Support Group
Addison's disease (also known as chronic adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism) is a rare endocrine disorder. It is estimated that it affects about 1 to 2 in 100,000 people. It occurs when the adrenal glands, seated above the kidneys, fail to produce enough of the hormone cortisol and, sometimes, the hormone aldosterone
To cool myself I keep a spray bottle of water with me so I can mist myself down if I'm not near water. I've also very recently invested in sunblock clothing, I look a little funny wearing long sleeves and pants in 90+ degree weather but I'd rather be safe than sorry. If my sunblock clothing is in the wash I wear lots of light colors, mainly white when being outside. Darker colors absorb the light thus making you heat up quicker where as white reflects the light and keeps you cooler.
Slather yourself in sunblock too. Don't forget your ears or the tops of your feet (I learned the hard way recently and fried my ears and top of my feet really bad while out fishing). Perhaps even invest in a really nice sunhat. The steroids we take make us more sensitive to the sun and our skin burns/tans more easily than the average person. My ears have vitiligo on them so they didn't tan but the top of my feet are easily 3-4 shades darker just after one incident.
Oh and I keep a good sized umbrella in my car to use for shade when there isn't shade nearby.
I'm sure others will be able to chime in with more info :) I hope you have a great day!

Kristen is right - sun screen & hydration are imperative. Either way, if you enjoy the sun, do what you would normally do, as long as you're cautious. Instead of thinking "illness", consider any changes in your routine as a positive...you'll maintain youthful skin & prevent wrinkles :)
I'm always glad to see your helpful & enjoyable posts. I never thought about using alcohol wipes, but will now definitely use them. I hope you're keeping as cool as possible, given those high southern temps. Thanks for the 'hottie' tip :)
