Hi, I've never really double my Cortef when I've gotten sick. I increased it a bit and managed to get thru it. I caught a sore throat viral infection, that turned into sinus inf with bronchitis, I'm bumped up Cortef a bit, currently on 30 mg a day. My endo said if I get sick double r even triple it for 3 days then go back to reg dose. My question is this how do u feel taking 60 mg of a Cortef in one day. I can't imagine taking all that. The side effects must be horrible. Any thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm just coming off a double dose from an infection that I didn't know I had. A UTI, it got really bad. I find the steroids just barely keep up with all that is going on in my body lately if I'm sick. I don't have any side effects that I can think of.

Unfortunately, when I stress dose/triple dose I get a yeast infection in my mouth really bad and in my vagina. Last time, I triple dosed I neeeded 5 prescription medications to clear it up. It was so bad I saw an infectious disease doctor and she tested me for Aids because she didn't believe steroids would cause such a prolonged yeast infection. Thankfully, I don't have Aids.
