Addison's disease (also known as chronic adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism) is a rare endocrine disorder. It is estimated that it affects about 1 to 2 in 100,000 people. It occurs when the adrenal glands, seated above the kidneys, fail to produce enough of the hormone cortisol and, sometimes, the hormone aldosterone

Hi everyone. I hope and pray you all are doing well. I wanted to ask if any of you take aspirin with the steroids. Im suppose to take a daily baby aspirin due to mitral valve prolapse but Ive only been taking it maybe once a week . So was just wondering if any of you take it and if so do you have any problems from it? Thanks Darla

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I have had addison's for 8yrs now and as far as i can remember my dr's always told me no asprin or blood thinners with steriods. however like "cokecpl" said "you have to determine if the benefits outweigh the risks"! we will hear this alot thru out our addison life!!! and we just have to pray that we are making the right decitions for our body...
I was taking low dose coated aspirin daily, but I cut back to every other day, once I was certain I was on the best HC dose. My Endo feels my aspirin regimen is fine. I do acknowledge literature indicates otherwise, but I have not experienced any adverse effects. In my opinion, the numerous benefits of low dose aspirin, outweigh any possible steroid absorption risk. Even 1/4 daily is beneficial, with your MD's OK.
Since your MD gave you the go-ahead and you feel it may offer you improved health, give it a try. *We ADs have a tendency towards GI disturbances, so make certain aspirin indeed coated. We can't afford any more problems!!
PS - Darla, I take my aspirin at bedtime, hrs. after my last steroid, NEVER during the day. It is possible this is why I have no steroid interference...just my guess?
