Addison's Disease Support Group
Addison's disease (also known as chronic adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism) is a rare endocrine disorder. It is estimated that it affects about 1 to 2 in 100,000 people. It occurs when the adrenal glands, seated above the kidneys, fail to produce enough of the hormone cortisol and, sometimes, the hormone aldosterone
It always makes me so sad that you are facing health issues at such a young age. I have Addison's and don't really know about non Addison's adrenal fatigue. Is it the beginning stage of Addison's? Is it autoimmune? You have encouraged me to try acupuncture. Does it give you energy? Fatigue is always an issue for me. I was diagnosed in 2004. I was very skinny. Slept constantly. Missed lots of work. Plus I wasn't healing right. Minor wounds lingered on forever or required antibiotics. I take 20 mg hydrocortisone a day. (10 in morning when I wake up and 10 at 2PM.) I take half a tablet of fludrocortsione daily and 12.5 mg DHEA. Lots of vitamins. I am currently losing my hair so I take Biotin daily. Just another lovely symptom. I also have Hashimoto's hypothyroidism and had hypogonadism in my 30's. Have you seen an endocrinologist yet? I wish you well and if I can ever help drop me a line. So glad you are out of a stressful household. I often think a bad marriage led to the onset of my diseases. Be well.
