Thought I would bounce this off of ya'll to see what your thoughts are: I'm a 21yo with numerous health problems, some diagnosed some undiagnosed. I've dealt with severe chronic fatigue for the past year, and have been to the ER numerous times within the last several months, more recently for not having the energy to eat/drink or take care of myself properly. Anyway!
My doctor ordered a random cortisol taken in the AM which came back to be below their normal range at 4.6. She then ordered a Cosyntropin test, here are the results:
0 min: 14 baseline (taken at 8 AM)
30 min: 20.5
60 min: 17
I believe that my ACTH was also 26 at the time (normal).
Endo said everything looked normal and she explained her reasoning for that evaluation, but something doesn't sit right with me with these numbers. Isn't my cortisol level supposed to at least double from baseline (14 to 28)? Instead it barely eeks over 20 (which is the minimum for their normal range) and then dips back down to 17. Plus that random seemed a little low. What's going on here? Am I right to be a little suspicious that something's off?
