Has anyone had there lips turn purple and gums turn a very dark purple. This has come on very sudden, my inner lip is very dark. Just wondering if this is due to hormonal inbalance. I have been struggling so muck since having my adrenals out last december. I was told just take pills and you will be fine, well it has not been fine. I have had two days that I felt like my old self and not sure what magic happened those days that made me feel better.

I have had that problem! Before I was diagnosed with AD my lips, gums, fingers and toesnails had turned dark purple to black. My endo told me it was because my ACTH levels from my pituitary gland were soooo high. Normal is between 20-60 and my levels were way over 1000. After being on steriods for about 6 months all the normal coloring came back. I do find now if I get really stressed or sick and have a minor crisis that my lips and gums get a slight purple color.
Perhaps your med. levels are off and that is the cause for you.

I have set up an appointment with my Endo, I have had a cold so that may have been a factor. It is somewhat difficult because here in MT there are only 4 so I have to travel 250 miles, so I try not to just run to her whenever I have a question. But with the info you gave me she set up blood tests and an appointment. Thanks
