Latrece, I am sorry for your loss! It does sound from what you wrote that your niece probably died from diabetic complications and not Addison's. Most Addison's crisis relate to nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, severe chills/fevers and headaches. Were any of these symptoms present with your niece? If not, it was most likely the diabetes.
Many people with Addison's live alone but they must realize that as soon as they vomit once they should use their hydrocortisone injector and get to the hospital on their own or by ambulance if needed. I have been in crisis and you do have enough time to get help if needed; but DO NOT WAIT.

Much love coming your way honey pot, I must say last year I nearly died from Addison's on reflection, it easy not to get to hospital as you think, your making a fuss, don;t wish to bother the staff etc..I did a flight to Miami with my family, To cut a long story short, we were delayed in Great Britain, and a four hour delay in Miami ( to which was a horrible experience) don;t like that airport everyone;s so rude, nasty, grumpy. Any way with the four hour delay, and the time zone difference I topped up with hydro,.We had then to drive all the way to Orlando.......yes you heard right!! madness but, that's where our holiday was going start. Hubby won't ever do that again I can tell you... Got to Orlando, bed....then in the morning I was the most awful I'd felt,,, so tired was not the word, I literally felt like I was going to die, panicking in bed, my husband was by my side, children 18/19 yr age keeping out the way,my hubby fed me hydro, I wasn't even in the same room, off with the fairies, I carry injection packs everywhere, but, neither of us thought to use it which, was simply stupid! . He knew what to do/ I couldn't talk without slurring to weak and exhausted to even breathe....Eventually after tesspoon salt, and 80mg over time of hydro I come back into this world, The feeling is weirdly wonderful, so relaxed, to the put even breathing was nearly stopped because I was so relaxed in a state of mediation almost, I was only scared because my hubby was shaking me to come too, and was adamant I was not going to sleep. so the feeling was quite good,made me less terrified of dying to be honest.But, however,it scared the wits out of hubby, we often talk about it.It would;nt happen again that holiday.Even he didn't do the injection. said he was a fool. Didn;t go to hospital either, recovered resting for a couple of days, after that was okay. It's good having the injection pack, but, it's other people in our lives that are closed to us, that also have to know....right enough get injection in NOW! after all we can't even reach for it, let alone use it mix it change needles. I just emailed you back in the hug book, but I am so sorry to hear about your niece. I hope your family is doing ok and you are handling it the best you can. I know nothing will bring back the great times spent together, but I'm sure she is in a much happier place now and for that you could be thankful.
I'm not sure about the Addisonian crisis, thanking God that I've never had a problem, but hope you find your answer.

Lezley, I've always been curious what happens at the end of a really bad crisis. You explained it really well. At least it doesn't seem scary any more to me. Ive had a few bad ones but have only had to go to the hospital twice. Hate the hospital, I'll do anything to stay home.

OMG I am so pleased to have 'found' you tonight. Too tired to write much more, yet so much left to read. I am a 62 years. ten years of search answers and find Primay immune disease and within a year after that diapgoses, to many to mention, Winner of decade ,ADDITSONS. HOLY CRAP. So much more to research than one could never know.

Looking forward to learning so much more from professions but moreso from you all live with each and every day.
