hospital stay

i have IC along with my AD. for the last 2 weeks i have had a very bad flairup with the IC and IBS it caused extreme pain, cramps and i also had diahhrea with nausea and a little vomiting. long story short when i went to receive a treatment for the IC i was feeling like i couldn't hardly walk, very weak. the day before i tried to go the store and had to go sit on the bathroom floor for a while before i could drive home. anyway before i could get my treatment my BP shot up to 202/126, i had shortness of breath and my chest felt funny i couldn't hardly answers any questions. i was admitted into the hospital and given heart tests which were good. the hospital dr thinks it was the perfect storm with the IC?IBS/AD. i thought a crisis of any kind had low BP. they have me on rescue steroids now and i am finally home after 3 days. has anyone had a similar thing happen with their BP?

Hi Sheri,
Sorry about another flare up...you've been dealing with this, for a while now? Maybe you experienced an adrenaline rush, causing a BP spike? I hope you're feeling better.

when your bp goes down suddenly, as in a crash or if you become dehydrated, you will feel weak and faint. this is the body's way of getting you to put your head and heart down so they can recieve blood. another thing that happens is that your bp my shoot up in an effort to correct the imbalance and push blood to all your organs. it sounds like your vascular system did a good job with the demands of your illnesses. i am so glad for you!

thanks sslaird. i didn't know why your BP spiked. just this weekend my BP would go way up and then later be way down.....it is all over the place!! on top of the IC flairup i have an infection now so i am being treated for that.
i am really tired of myself right now......i now everybody else must be!

I hope you're better. I found-out the hard way that Addison patients have lov B/P as a side to Addison's Disease. I've hypertension. Yet, AD has put me into many, many Critical Care Units.

You should be wearing an alert pendant or bracelet.

i am better. i did have very low BP but after 7 years on steroids i now have hypertension. lately though my BP is up and down with no ryhme or reason to it. i can't understand way it keeps running up so much.....i know i have been having a bad IC flairup and the stress of that is not good with the Addison's disease, do you think that would make the BP go up alot of the time?

i know that stress makes everyones pressure go up! sometimes, people will have high bp just because they are having their bp taken. however, if you do not have a history of this it is probably a good idea for you to keep a record. make sure you write down when you take your meds as there may be a correlation. also write down any other symptoms, especially if they are unusual, like sweating or hearing things. (i just made those symptoms up as an example so dont expect them!) . let your doc know your concerns asap, even if you just leave a message for the nurse. I hope you feel better right now!
