Are you sick? Allergies going nuts? Do you have an infections?

I'd say screw your regular doc, go with the higher dose of cortef until you can see your endo. Or at the very least go with a double or triple amount of cortef for a few days to see how you do.

Just in reading a little bit of your past posts it sounds like there's something physically going on in your body that is causing it to stress the heck out and until you can figure that out you have to adapt your meds to meet the need.

Yea I have Lyme disease so been real sick for a long time, my sinuses r bothering me some too so double whammy. Thanks for input. I can barely keep my eyes open, I would say that would be low cortisol levels not high right? Also has anyone had jittery and shakes,

Your symptoms are classic low cortisol. Proof is in the pudding that these went away when you were administered a higher dose at the hospital.

High cortisol can induce shakes and jitters but also moon face is the most classic case of overdosing on steroids.

Thank u, that's what I thought, usually when my cortisol level is high I'm retaining fluid and I can't stop eating and that's not my symptoms. Thanks for input

My endo wanted me to decrease my Cortef to 20 mg thru out day. I'm in Florinef .1 mg daily, I'm currently on Cortef 22.5 mg spread out thru the day now I'm having problems again chest pain, extreme exhaustion, brain fog worse, achy all over feeling really bad again I think I need more Cortef , this is how it all started when I went into the crisis, I don't understand why he wants me to decrease when my body seems to need more??

From all the posts I've read here and on Facebook only a very few people are able to get by on 20 mg of steroids a day. The overwhelming advice I see is that 30 mg is the minimum for a woman's daily dose. A few endocrinologist are adamant about staying on 20 mg a day. I would consider changing doctors. I was dx 17 years ago, I've been on 30 mg a day for most of that time. Even on 30 mg I don't have the energy I use to have before I was sick. But it is enough to replace what I would have made in cortisol and I don't go into a crisis. Steroids lasts about 3-4 hours in your system, so splitting your dose up through the day is really important. But if your doctor won't give you enough to feel well I would get a new doctor. 15 mg is the daily teen dose. So only 5 mg more isn't really enough. Good luck.

Thank u so much for ur input, I was thinking of trying to find another dr. Appt was very disappointing to say the least. I had just came out of crisis and he tells me to lower dose even ER dr had more sense then him. Appreciate ur help
