Where do hoarders fit in on this equation? I guess we call it, they are just addicted to STUFF.

My late husband was a hoarder. It took two years to get rid of all the junk after he passed. Now I ended up with another husband who turns out to be a hoarder too. Its my home and its piling up again. It makes me hate stuff with a passion. I'd like a home with healthy feng shui.

Am I addicted to hoarders? Come to think of it, my Dad was a hoarder too.

Where do hoarders fit in? In the only few square feet that isn't full! LOL Sorry, bad joke. I think hoarding is a continuum, my house is cluttered and we hang on to some things ay too long, but it's not like we only have paths through our house or junk piled to the ceiling

Its a compulsion for many people.
If you live with a hoarder, I wonder if its possible to compromise; to set boundaries?
If your junk fits in the ...garage, basement, shed - its all yours. No spillage to living room or bed room!
We others may be compulsively neat, clean, & orderly.

Don'ttread, I thought that was actually pretty funny. I myself am a "collector". I know I have way to much stuff, but I rationalize that it is all things that I will either watch (DVDs & VHS tapes), listen to (CDs0 or read (books galore). But I can't see just getting rid of them, as they all hold interest for me. What a quandry!

If I move from here, I want my vast CD collection down to 50. Most of them I've lost interest or there's only 1 cut I like anymore. Too time consuming to convert to mp3. Really at my age do I need 6 Mettalica? Rocking out to it mat cause spontaneous combustion, LOL! OK 1 Drowning Pool, 1 Mettalica, no Beastie boys. I'll keep Alman Bros, Neil Young, Bob Dylan...oh stop !

LOL thanks for the laugh donttread! I think he is seeing the light. He is getting rid of some of his clutter.

The most amusing part of collecting is the idea that the collectors item will be worth a lot of money someday. I tried selling old baseball cards that were supposedly worth a lot of money but couldnt ever sell them. Hmmmm

He also has a huge stack of unique collectors plates 1990-2000, complete set of one plate per year, tried to sell them but no luck.

My sister in law had a duffle bag packed full of beanie babies. She thought she was going to make a fortune selling them, but I looked on craigslist and people were giving boxes full of them away free, moving sales.

I just feel like Steve Martin on the jerk. I dont need anything at all just maybe a few things and thats all I need!!!!!!
